November 14, 2007

Past champion Nick Bogdanovich owned the town with a 6-0-1 week while defending champ Eric Rynning busted out with a solid weekend in the second round of Leroy’s Money Talks Invitational.

Rynning’s 5-1-1 gave the winning duo a combined 11-1-2 record as Bogdanovich overwhelmed Wane Peters (1-5-1, 7-5-2), and reigning champ Rynning dropped Mike Corrigan (4-3, 7-5-2).

This Friday, the north’s top two players James Manos and Paul Sonner will square off at 7 p.m. at the Riviera on the strip in Las Vegas. Manos is a Lake Tahoe-based pro handicapper who also writes for the Reno Gazette-Journal. Sonner, owner of the popular Bully’s restaurants, has pledged his winnings to local charities.

Handicappers Lance Blankenship and Marc Lawrence square off in the 2 p.m. match at Fitzgerald’s in downtown Las Vegas. Blankenship is one of the contest’s solid stat players and went 4-3 in the first round -- the same record Lawrence posted in his first round win. Lawrence publishes the weekly "Playbook," football handicapping magazine and is a former Stardust contest winner.

The combined record for the field stands at 117-119-14 against the spread. Here are the rest of the second round matches with first-round records:
