The crowd favorites took a powder in the continuing first round of Leroy's Money Talks Invitational. Wayne Peters scorched "Generous Jay" with a 6-1 record and SoCal bettor Mike Corrigan dispatched Connie Weber with a 3-2-2 victory.

"Jay" became a crowd favorite last Friday as he distributed $110 tickets of each of his seven picks to members of the Fitzgerald's audience. Four out of seven paid out, but his winning record wasn't enough to overcome Peter's 6-win total, so far the tournament's top showing.

Weber packed John Ascuaga's Nugget with her fan base of Reno socialites, but couldn't break through as two push picks sent her to the showers against Corrigan.

The head-to-head football handicapping continues this Friday as four more of the nation's top 32 handicappers put up their own stake in the single-elimination battle.

The unique "Money Talks" is the largest event of its kind in Nevada and features 32 well-known handicappers who put up $5,000 each in a bracketed tournament...one loss and you're done. The winner-take-all prize is $160,000 and will be determined on the finals scheduled for Dec. 28.

Match winners are determined by the best record on seven college and/or pro picks against the spread. A "best-bet" designated among each player's picks will settle any ties. The "Money Talks" show is broadcast on radio stations throughout the state each Friday when there is some head-to-head, "live" picking.

Friday's continuation of first round matches will take place at Fitzgerald's in downtown Las Vegas from 2-3 p.m. and feature Al McMordie, one of Vegas' top handicappers, versus automobile marketing firm owner Lance Blankenship. McMordie is not only a sports betting author and radio personality, but also runs his own website (www.bigal.com). Over the past 15 years, he has won 34 handicapping championships in football, basketball, and baseball, including the 2004 Stardust Invitational. Against this overwhelming force is Blankenship, a college sports expert who has a history of winning high-payout parlays.

Their live picks will be broadcast on KENO-AM -1460 in Las Vegas and KPLY-AM 630 in Reno as well as www. americanwagering.com

Friday evening, the live showdown will take place at John Ascuaga's Nugget in Sparks from 7-9 p.m. when Paul Sonner, owner of Bully's restaurants, matches picks with Computer Bob. Sonner vows that his winnings will go to local charities, but he has to overcome the brains of Computer Bob an aeronautical engineer and computer scientist

This match will be broadcast on KSFN-AM-1140 in Las Vegas and KBZZ AM-1270 in Reno as well as the web site. Sports talk KWNA AM 1400 in Winnemucca and KELY AM-1230 in Ely will also pick up the action from both shows.

All picks and standings will be posted at www.americanwagering.com
